About Wise Woman Sling

Wise Woman Sling started in 2003 as a work at home mama business. I had personally tried out many sling designs, with my own children, from a padded ring sling, to a pouch, a tied bed sheet and a front pack. None of these designs suited what I needed.

I liked the way the padded ring sling had a sewn tail, as it didn't get in my way as I did housework, but the padding was uncomfortable for me. I loved the curved seam of the pouch sling, but found it limiting in the different carries I could do, and nursing was impossible for me. So I combined all the things I loved and made my adjustable pouch ring sling.

When I first started selling them I only sold to friends. I then made up a few slings and brought them to folk music festivals. Having two small children made it difficult to try to sell at festivals, so I ended up packing the slings away for awhile, and giving them away as gifts. I then explored eBay and decided to see what happened when I put a few up for auction. I could not believe the response! I honestly didn't think I would make more slings, I was only going to sell what I had on hand, but people loved them and emailed me for more! Wise Woman Sling has grown beyond any of my expectations. I now have many distributors and have sold hundreds of slings.

I live in Minnesota, with my two children. I'm a single mama, in college for a degree in Social Work, working part-time at the local food co-op, and running my kids to all sorts of activities besides sewing slings in my living room. It’s a busy life!
